March 09 - Waterfowl Field Trip
The Waterfowl Field Trip on March 9th was a wonderful birding excursion. Eighteen species of waterfowl and 54 total species were seen. There was a huge flock of white-fronted geese along Highway 12. Madam Dorian Park was very birdie – cedar and bohemian waxwings, a spotted towhee, a varied thrush, a hermit thrush, yellow rumped warblers and oodles of robins. A lot of bald eagles were found at various locations and there were four great horned owls on four different nests along the route. A northern shrike along Frog Hollow made a nice ending to a great day of birding.
