October 04 - Wildlife Rehab Center Field Trip
Nine people braved the rain and wind for a trip down to Pendleton for the Blue Mountain Wildlife Open House. We covered some back roads on the way down and found some nice birds including flocks of savannah sparrows, two great horned owls, several northern harriers and red-tailed hawks in a variety of plumages. Fortunately the rain subsided for the open house (although the wind did not) and we were able to enjoy and photograph the birds at the center. We also watched two falconry demonstrations – one with a Harris’s hawk and the other with a young red-tailed hawk.
